Dr. David Klee recently retired (May 2022) from Buena Vista University (Iowa) as Distinguished Professor of Music after teaching there for twenty years. Dr. Klee served as the Director of Jazz Studies/Music Production where he created and established the recording technology program. As well as his duties at Buena Vista University, Dr. Klee was also the principal flutist for the Fort Dodge Symphony and the Karl King Band for many years. Dr. Klee received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in flute performance from the University of Georgia in 1998.

Dr. Klee was fortunate enough to have studied with some of the finest flutists/flute teachers in the country. His former flute teachers include: Martha Rearick, former principal flutist of the Florida Symphony, Warren Little, former principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony, Dr. Constance Lane, former principal flutist of the Columbia Philharmonic Orchestra, and Dr. Ronald Waln, Professor of Flute emeritus at the University of Georgia. Dr. Klee has performed in master classes for Bonita Boyd, Julius Baker,  James Pellerite, and Ervin Monroe.

In 2023, Dr. Klee was selected as a Nebraska Arts Council Artist-teacher where he visits schools and gives performances/clinics on flute (as well as working with the concert/jazz band programs).

In his spare time Dr. Klee runs and manages his own recording/video studio called DAK Productions. He uses the studio to record audio/video for his YouTube channel as well as record flute and bass for clients’ various recording projects (internet based).
